The temperature range of the blind valve is mainly restricted by the temperature resistance of its sealing ring and valve body materials, including high temperature blind valve, normal temperature blind valve, low temperature blind valve.
Seal ring temperature resistance, let’s take the commonly used rubber and PTFE as an example.
Rubber sealing ring is used: The temperature range of ordinary rubber seals is usually between -20℃ and 80℃. However, some special rubber materials, such as fluoroelastomer and silicone rubber, have an extended temperature resistance range of -40℃ to about 200℃. When selecting, it is necessary to pick the right rubber material according to the actual working temperature of the piping system.
When using polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) seals: PTFE seals are known for their excellent resistance to high temperatures, with a long-term service temperature of up to about 260°C. They are also known for their ability to withstand high temperatures. Nonetheless, it performs poorly at low temperatures and usually becomes brittle below -200℃.
Temperature resistance of valve body materials
Let’s take cast steel and stainless steel as examples, when a cast steel valve body is used: The temperature resistance of cast steel blind valve bodies ranges roughly from -29°C to 425°C. The temperature resistance of some heat-resistant cast steel materials ranges from -10°C to -405°C. Certain heat-resistant cast steel materials have an even wider range of temperature resistance. In the high temperature environment, cast steel valve body needs special heat treatment to enhance its heat resistance.
When using stainless steel valve bodies: Stainless steel valve bodies have a relatively wide temperature range, usually between -196°C and 800°C. Different types of stainless steel materials have different temperature resistance. Different types of stainless steel materials have different temperature resistance characteristics, so the selection of the actual working temperature of the pipeline system and the media characteristics need to be considered.
